Using Cisco CUTO, XL Axiata improves throughput in Indonesia

Indonesian mobile telecommunications services operator XL Axiata claims to have made significant changes in the 4G network by using technology from Cisco Ultra Traffic Optimization (CUTO).

Earlier in mid-2021, XL Axiata and Cisco had conducted a series of trials of the CUTO solution.

After being proven successful in increasing the efficiency of radio network capacity, CUTO technology will begin to be implemented at the end of 2021 in a number of areas with high data traffic density. In 2022, XL Axiata will expand the adoption of this technology.

Director and Chief Technology Officer XL Axiata, I Gede Darmayusa, said in a press release that he was pleased to be working with Cisco in implementing CUTO technology, which is the first in Indonesia.

“CUTO helps increase the efficiency of network capacity so that our cellular network infrastructure becomes even better. With CUTO, XL Axiata can provide high-quality data services to customers, wherever they are," said Gede Darmayusa.

I Gede Darmayusa added, CUTO technology is one of the right solutions to be implemented on the XL Axiata network, to be able to continue to support customer data traffic growth by providing customers with better throughput and mobile broadband experiences.

This is evident from the latest network measurement report, where the throughput of XL Axiata users has increased by around 17% through the implementation of CUTO, said the release.

UTO is an optimization feature presented by Cisco to increase the efficiency of XL Axiata's network capacity by relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms.
