Zain Saudi Arabia announces cloud and cable deals

Saudi Arabian operator Zain KSA has announced the signing of two significant agreements in recent days during the global tech event, LEAP2023, hosted at the Riyadh Front Expo Centre.

Zain KSA has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with cloud service provider Amazon Web Service (AWS) to offer its enterprise customers state-of-the-art cloud services and smart solutions powered by the Zain KSA 5G network and AWS through secure, high-performance cloud platforms.

Zain KSA and AWS say they have successfully completed a trial of a 5G private network, marking a major milestone in the deployment of cloud-native infrastructure for enterprise customers across Saudi Arabia.

Through this partnership, Zain KSA says it will be able to tap into the power of AWS’ cloud-native infrastructure to develop new tools and services that can improve 5G network performance and security, and support the deployment of new applications for enterprise customers.

Zain KSA also announced during LEAP2023 that it had signed an agreement with Emaar, The Economic City (EEC) for landing the J2M subsea cable system, which will connect Saudi Arabia to Europe and the rest of the world through the Pakistan and East Africa Cable System (PEACE).

EEC is the master developer of King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) which is described as an investment destination that features a fast-growing manufacturing and logistics hub within a modern environment that is home to world-class urban living and tourism experiences.

This initiative, says Zain KSA, outlines the company's strategic goals, including providing ultra-high-speed internet and enhancing the diversity of its cross-border infrastructure. It will also help to position KAEC as a data hub centre.
