Three new licences for CamTel

Cameroon’s CamTel has been granted three licences by the country’s regulator following a restructuring process last year.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of Cameroon has renewed the state-owned operator’s telecoms fixed licence and issued a new licence permitting it to deploy and manage a nationwide transport network, including the construction of submarine cable landing stations. In addition, CamTel is now licensed to deliver a public GSM network across Cameroon.

Cameroon’s Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Minette Libom Li Likeng said: “The granting of these concession agreements to CamTel aims to enhance the productivity of the national operator, in order to increase the supply of quality electronic telecommunications services at affordable prices.”
