Sivers Semiconductors demos 5G integrated reference design at MWC

Sivers, a technology company that supplies ICs and integrated modules and PureSoftware, a global software products and digital services company, have jointly developed an O-RAN-compliant base station reference design for the 5G millimetre wave market based on the NXP Layerscape processor platform.

Both Sivers and Puresoftware have a long history of working together with NXP to develop 5G millimetre wave solutions. The O-RAN ecosystem enables open standardized interfaces to allow more vendors to serve the 5G infrastructure market, thus expanding the customer set and addressable market for this solution.

As a result of the latest development, Sivers is demonstrating live at MWC a reference design that it says offers the highest level of RF integration on the market.

By combining NXP’s programmable baseband processor, the LA12xx, the Sivers 5G mmWave transceiver module, the TRB02801, and PureSoftware’s software stack, Sivers says this solution enables customers to differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market by having market-leading performance and power efficiency with the simplest possible bill of materials.
