OmniClouds and Batelco tap Nuage Networks for SD-WAN 2.0 in MEA

Nokia’s Nuage Networks delivering SD-WAN 2.0 for OmniClouds and Batelco in MEA

Nokia’s Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution has been picked up by two major cloud/digital service providers active in the Middle East.

Bahrain’s Batelco and cloud service provider OmniClouds are using the solution to improve and optimise cloud connectivity, automation and digital transformation services – the former for consumer and enterprise customers across Bahrain, the latter for enterprise customers throughout the Europe, Middle East and Africa

Nokia’s Nuage Networks will build and operate its SD-WAN 2.0 network for OmniClouds, enabling the provider to connect enterprise customers over a large coverage area – touching all key public cloud data centres with dedicated infrastructure in a flexible and cost-efficient way. Paired with Nuage Networks’ SD-WAN 2.0 solution, OmniClouds customers will have a secure and scalable way to connect with data centres, private clouds, software-as-a-solution (SaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-solution (IaaS) providers.

OmniClouds will provide full cloud connectivity and use Nuage Networks’ SD-WAN 2.0 as an overlay to existing connectivity technologies, such as IP-MPLS, microwave, satellite or public internet, to automate operations and enhance connectivity over large geographic regions. This will give its enterprise customers a central management view of the entire network, enabling them to easily control security, user permissions and parameters, such as latency and quality of service.

Amr A Eid, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member, OmniClouds, said: “The Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution plays a critical part in smoothing [customers’] move to the cloud by simplifying the operational side and providing the security and assurance they need for such a critical part of their business.”

Batelco meanwhile will complement its existing business services by providing customers with simplified management of - and dynamic support for - cloud and IoT applications. The operator is enhancing its digital offering with SD-WAN services, which allow its customers to leverage new cloud and IoT-driven business applications.

The Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution will enable Batelco’s enterprise customers to reduce IT admin costs by managing their entire corporate networks – including branches, data centres and public cloud – using one, unified dashboard. The dashboard will allow customers to manage key functionalities, such as user access, security as well as quality and performance parameters, across the entire virtual network.

Abderrahmane Mounir, GM Enterprise, Batelco, said: “Our enterprise customers are pursuing the digitalisation of their businesses. The Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution will enable us to cost-effectively support them with an agile, open and cloud-based network service.”
