Telrad upgrades Zamani’s 4G network to boost capacity and coverage

Niger’s Zamani Telecom has completed a wide-ranging upgrade of its 4G TD-LTE network.

Executed by wireless telecoms solutions provider Telrad Networks, the upgrade will allow Zamani to gradually decommission its WiMAX network, thereby freeing up additional capacity for the operator’s three million subscribers. Zamani will be able to support its parallel B2B services with a consolidated Layer 2 LTE solution, and the upgrade will also enable 100% coverage across Niger’s capital Niamey as well as the country’s major towns.

“This TD-LTE network showcases the many advantages of Telrad solutions – from cost to coverage to seamless connectivity… [Zamani’s] end users will benefit every day from stronger signals, improved reliability and faster speeds,” said Liliane Ginot, Sales Director of Africa at Telrad Networks.

Formerly Orange Niger, Zamani Telecom was acquired fully from Orange Group in November 2019 and subsequently rebranded in December 2020. Zamani Com is jointly owned by Mohamed Rissa and Moctar Thiam, both of whom were minority shareholders in Orange Niger.
