A 3G network of 3,000 base-stations is set for construction by Huawei as part of Ukraine’s network development. Commissioner of the contract is life:), a local GMS operator whose services can be reached by almost the entire population of the Ukraine.
Mobile services operator life:) has announced its cooperation with Huawei as part of its strategy of infrastructure enhancement. life:) is an expanding Ukrainian GSM operator that is energetically attracting new customers to its network. In order to provide these customers with quality connections, life:) has signed the partnership with Huawei: in the first stage Huawei will install approximately 3,000 base stations.
The first phase of the project will start in the Western Ukraine region and the Crimea. All the base stations to be provided by Huawei are up to the newest technology developed by the company and will support 3G.
Tansu Yegen, the General Director of life:) commented: "...we understand the importance of enhancing our network in order to provide quality services to our growing number of customers. In 2009, despite the severe macroeconomic challenges in the Ukrainian market due to Turkcell Group's commitment to its Ukrainian operations, which is a long-term project, we plan to spend approximately US$200 million in 2009 based on our growth projections. Thanks to the partnership with Huawei we will be able to dynamically increase network capacity as well getting our network more ready for the coming era of 3G."

So far life:) is planning to increase network capacity by 52.2% in 2009 and will continue to grow geographical coverage. life:) is the leading national mobile services operator in terms of new customer acquisitions, serving 11.2 million subscribers as of 2008.
